So what are you waiting for, grab a sit stand mat now and free your feet from discomfort!

Benefits Of Anti Fatigue Mats

The benefits of anti-fatigue mats might seem obvious (given the title); but exactly how and why they work is not. Standing for long periods on hard surfaces can restrict blood flow and cause muscles to constrict, leading to fatigue and tiredness. Encouraging even the smallest amount of movement can have powerful anti fatigue properties.

The 'give' in our anti fatigue mats forces your feet to make micro adjustments to your position, stimulating other muscles in your body to adjust in turn. This tiny movement improves blood circulation, and keeps the muscles active. An anti-fatigue mat can reduce tiredness, the risk of muscle pain and injuries, and protect your body when standing for extended periods.

Anti-fatigue matting was first developed to help in industrial areas, sorting offices and workshops. In the modern office environment, and in many people's homes, standing desk mats are providing the same benefits.

You can think of anti fatigue mats as safety mats for the modern office. For areas with high foot traffic, bevelled edges help prevent trips: and chair wheels will roll over with ease. And their anti slip properties also help prevent slips.

Anti-Fatigue Mats - Which To Pick?

With so many of us now using standing desks, it makes sense to protect yourself with an anti fatigue mat. But how to choose? The best standing desk mats are light weight, and anti slip so you can be sure they're staying put. Good anti fatigue matting is resistant, but soft enough to allow for movement, in turn encouraging blood flow and alleviating the pain and fatigue associated with standing on a hard floor for extended periods.

You also want an anti fatigue mat that gives you plenty of space to move. Our anti fatigue mats tick all of these boxes: they're light weight, anti slip, and make use of materials that encourage subtle movement, to maximise their anti fatigue effects over long periods.

They're also large enough to accommodate you when you stand, and your chair when you sit - and bevelled edges will allow your chair to roll over easily. If you feel numbness or pain in your feet, a mat with a massage ball allows you to relieve any aches and stimulate even more blood flow. Do Anti-Fatigue Mats Work?

Anti-fatigue mats provide a safe, ergonomic surface that helps maintain endurance and stamina by providing complete support for the feet. No matter what kind of work you are doing, anti fatigue matting helps prevent muscle fatigue allowing you to work for longer periods of time with less chance of pain. Seeing as the world has become increasingly more sedentary due to its workforce becoming desk bound (i.e., sitting on their butt all day), standing mats allow people to break their sedentary habits and stand for longer periods without experiencing increased risk of physical discomfort/injury/sedentary diseases.

What Is The Best Thickness For A Standing Mat?

When buying a standing mat, the thickness is an important consideration. Too thick and you will find it lacks the support you need, too thin will result in no improvement in pain relief.

We found that standing mats with a thickness of 15mm to 20mm made from a high density rubberised foam are best at reducing aches and pains from prolonged standing.

What is the best material for an anti-fatigue mat?

Fatigue mats are most commonly made of polyurethane foam (PU) , styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), vinyl and injected gel.

The anti fatigue mat will be made of a high density foam covered with a durable rubber outer layer. These types of stand mats are great as they are extremely strong, and can easily handle constant foot traffic and day to day use. The rubber outer layer also makes the mats easy to clean should spills or dirt build up over time.

When Should Anti Fatigue Matting Be Used?

Standing all day on a hard surface can wear you out. Anti fatigue floor mats are designed to reduce the fatigue caused by standing for prolonged periods on a hard surface. The good news is that anti fatigue matting is designed to combat the effects of this type overuse injury called overuse muscle fatigue (OMF) so using ergonomic mats in any job that requires prolonged standing, or in combination with your sit stand desk is a great opportunity to make the most of the time spent standing up.
