Computer Desk Mats & Desk Covers You'll Love!

If you're wondering what is the point of a desk mat, then you've probably never used one. A desk mat provides a smooth surface for scrolling, and means you have ample space to manoeuvre your cursor wherever you need.

You can think of a deskpad like an extended mouse pad, keeping your movements smooth and your desk scratch-resistant. Big enough to cover most of the tabletop, a large desk mat can not only protect your desk but also help resist RSIs when using your desk for long periods. Leather mats give a super professional appearance for work, whereas gaming mats might incorporate more extravagant features like LED lighting.

For whatever purpose, desk pads are one of the most underrated office supplies. Allowing for a larger stroke width, desk pads protect your desk surface and your body: what's not to like?

What is the Best Desk Mat Material?

Desk mats can be made from many materials. Many opt for a leather desk pad, which stylishly accommodates your keyboard and mouse for work. Leather not only provides smooth action but also enhances the desk's appearance. Desky uses a vegan-friendly PU leather for our mouse pad products. A desk protector is essential for preventing scratches and wear, ensuring your workspace stays in top condition. Gaming mouse pads are more commonly made with a Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) and Multispandex Fabric combination, which provides a firmer and smoother action.

Several desk mat materials are considered high quality, such as genuine leather, plant-based leather alternatives, cork, particular plastic compounds, felt, and textiles including polyester and microfiber blends.

Genuine leather is renowned for its durability and high-end appeal, while plant-based leather alternatives and cork offer environmentally friendly benefits. Additionally, plastic, felt, and fabric choices are affordable, versatile, and easy to clean.

How Do I Choose A Desk Pad?

Choosing a desktop mat depends on your needs, but for a super professional look, a leather pad with great stability is a winner. For gaming, you want something a little smoother and visually appealing. An office desk mat provides a clean and functional surface, enhancing both comfort and organization. Some mats come fitted with LEDs to really boost the look of your setup.

What Is A Gaming Desk Mat?

Gaming desk mats are designed to have a super smooth action, with a smooth surface that gives you more control. They also make your setup look way more impressive. With a rubber base for extra grip, a computer mat for desk provides a much larger surface than a traditional mouse mat, so you should never run out of space.

Are Hard Mats Or Soft Mats Better For Gaming?

This depends on preference, but most agree that a firm, secure mat is better for gaming, especially if you need to make quick moves. Be sure to look out for a mat which has a rubber base to keep it gripped to the desk surface, because you don't want any slip ups.
