What should I consider when picking a gaming chair?

There are just a few things to consider and they really boil down to your height, sitting posture, and weight. Playing video games can be even more exhausting if you're not using the right gaming setup.

Chairs for gamers should make you feel comfortable while still giving your body the proper support it needs for extended gaming sessions. Be sure to pick one that comes with a lumbar pillow so you don't find yourself suffering from strained neck muscles or lower back pain after sitting for long periods. Your posture is also something to keep in mind, as improper posture can have negative health consequences, especially over time. An ergonomic office chair with adjustable armrests, seat depth, headrest, and height adjustment ensures optimal comfort and support for both gaming and work setups

Seat Materials

The quality of the chair materials determines its longevity. You'll typically get what you pay for with gaming chairs. Look for high grade PU leather, mesh, steel, and aluminium and your gaming chair is likely to last longer due to these higher grade materials being sturdier than less expensive models.

All of the materials we use are breathable to allow you to stay cool while you work. We also have an extensive range of mesh backed office chairs, which allow for constant airflow and cooling, whilst supporting your back comfortably. Our racing chairs are covered in PU leather, for a super comfortable and great looking finish.

Adjustability

The more you can adjust, the better. And there are an incredible range of adjustable options on gamer chairs these days. You should at the very least be able to set the angle of your backrest, and the height of the chair. An adjustable lumbar cushion is a must for anyone experiencing back pain, or anyone who wants to avoid it in the future.

In order to keep your arms at the right level, and avoid RSI and other muscular injuries, adjustable armrests are a must. The upper arms should be at a 90 degree angle with the body, typically achieved by adjusting armrests before moving on to seat height. An adjustable neck pillow will allow you to support your head and take the strain off of your neck muscles.

Are gamer chairs worth it?

Always make sure you note the chair’s height and weight requirements to get the most out of your new purchase. Also ask yourself whether the armrest adjustment and tilt-and-recline features justify the extra expense.

Gamer chairs can be expensive because durability, comfort, and steel frame construction are a priority, which means quality ergonomic support. Multiple components allowing almost custom-made adjustments also come at a cost. Usually, the more comfortable your ride, the more time you’ll spend playing. So, in the long run, the fact that your chair can be locked at a tilted angle or unlocked to rock back and forth is totally worth it. For those seeking long-lasting comfort and support, ergonomic office chairs provide an excellent alternative with adjustable features and superior lumbar support.

Are gaming chairs the best for your back?

Gaming seats are not bad for your back. Gaming chairs can improve posture, relieve lower back pain, and boost energy levels, keeping the spine in a healthy alignment whilst adjustable armrests offset some weight onto the arms. The seat-angle tilt lock also allows a 90-degree angle at the hips, relieving hip discomfort. It's good practice to check the max load of your seat too. All Desky's best sellers have in-depth specs listed for your convenience, making them some of the best gaming chair Australia has to offer.

They also foster a healthy lifestyle, especially for avid gamers. These chairs provide extensive lumbar support and maintain your spine's natural curvature, possibly warding off back pain and other posture-related problems. Furthermore, they encourage a healthier sitting position during intense gaming sessions, protecting your back and promoting your well-being.

Are gaming chairs better than office chairs?

The superior maneuverability of gaming chairs, plus the lumbar and neck support, makes them a better option for gaming, where you may want to move around excitedly or adopt a more relaxed reclining position. This is not what you need from an office chair. While a certain amount of adjustability is required when working, a more upright, supported posture will improve your productivity and comfort. An ergonomic gaming chair provides the perfect balance, offering flexibility for gaming while ensuring proper support for extended use.

What is the point of a chair made for gaming?

The best gaming chairs provide that crucial comfort and help you stay cool. A racing style back allows airflow and provides great support. An adjustable lumbar support plus back height and tilt, gives you perfect support for the upper and lower back, neck, shoulders and arms needed for long gaming sessions. The 150-degree tilt and 360-degree swivel of Desky’s ergonomic gaming seats allow for plenty of movement, keeping the spine supported at all times.

How should you sit in a gaming chair?

Most importantly, you should plant your feet firmly on the floor to give your core the strength to sit upright. Tuck your hips deep into the seat to align the spine. Adjust the armrests to the height of your desk to add a second level of weight distribution and change your sitting position frequently to maintain hip and spine mobility. If you've got a height adjustment Desky gaming desk remember to take a break from sitting every so often too!
